Putting the Baby Down

I put the baby down on my own for the first time tonight. My wife went out with friends for a well-deserved break, so I had to go through BG's bed-time ritual all by myself. It really wasn't too bad. BG went to sleep very fast and has been an angel all night.

I think the key (at least this is what I've read) is that we have a pretty well-defined ritual for bedtime. BG gets fed, followed by a bath. After the bath, she gets a new diaper, lotion on her skin, a fresh onesie, and then I read her a story. After the story, she gets swaddled, and then I sing to her when I put her in the crib. I never said it was a short/fast ritual.
