Shopping

This weekend we went shopping with BG because she wanted a "reading light". Keep in mind, she doesn't read yet. But she likes to pretend and we certainly want to encourage that. What amazes me is the way that she shops.

We went to Ikea, figuring they would have some cute, yet reasonably priced reading lights for here, maybe something we could clip on her bed. When we got there, we went to the kids section to see what lights they had there, and she started playing with the toys.

What astonishes me about BG, is that like many kids, she wants a lot of toys. But she will inspect them and play for a bit with them in the store, then put them down. If you ask her, "Do you want that?" she won't spit out a "Yes!" without thought, and more often then not, she'll consider it, and say, "No... that's okay," and move on to something else.

The other astonishing thing is that she was *much* more interested in the lighting section than the toys. When we got to the housewares section that had lights, she ran from light display to light display, trying the different lamps, touching the different lamp shades, ooohing and aahhhing over the different lamps. Lamps. My kid is weird. And I love her for that.
