Last night, I was out at a business meeting, so my wife was looking after BG on her own. That's not a problem, except I normally read all the bedtime stories. So she was on her own with the stories. She chose one of the books we got at the library, "Little Miss Spider."
It's not a bad book. The illustrations are very unique and I like them. But the story was about Little Miss Spider, who hatches from her egg, and can't find her mommy. Along the way, a passing beetle takes her under her wing and cares for her, eventually taking her home. It'd be a really perfect book for adoptive parents. On the other hand, it completely upset BG. Every page, when Miss Spider would look for her mommy, BG would turn to my wife and say, "Where is her *daddy*??"
She was very concerned that Little Miss Spider not only didn't have a daddy, but that no one in the book seemed bothered by this at all. Which in turn, lead to her wondering where I was and when I would be back. As much as I hate my little girl to be upset, it was a really good feeling to know she missed me that much.
